About the ART Section

ART?! Art might seem a little superfluous to our hard emphasis on practical tools for sustainable survival. However, we are going to argue that art is essential to social transformation.

How can we imagine the world being another way if we cannot see it? Art takes us out of what we know- of what we think can exist- to the endless possibilities of our imaginations.

In this section, we are going to cover two things: what art for social change is, and how you can make it.

So, what's art for social change? We'll focus on three main areas:

Environmental

Environmental art moves us to rethink our connection to the natural.

Interactive

Ilumina by Pablo Gonzalez Vargas is powered by participants' collective heartbeat.

Interactive art requires our participation.

Immersive

Imagine yourself- and all of your senses- immersed in another world.

We'll also give you the tools you need to start building your own art projects.

Planning. From napkin sketches to gantt charts, planning at every phase is critical to getting projects done.

Budgeting. Boring, yes, grueling, too. We'll introduce you to some tools to reduce the pain.

Crowdfunding. Crowdfunding is an incredible tool, and its very possible to achieve your goals when approached properly.

Design Programs. Design programs can help you figure out what your project is going to look like - and how you are going to build it - before getting your hands dirty. They can save you a lot of time and headache.

Prototyping. Prototyping is key to avoiding larger and more expensive problems. And, it's fun!

Building. Building is a challenge. We'll help you maximize your human and physical resources.
