Emily Nicolosi

Founder, Executive Director

Dr. Nicolosi was granted her PhD in Geography from the Department of Geography at the University of Utah in 2019. Her research focuses on climate change mitigation, specifically the potentialities of grassroots innovations for sustainability. Her work has been published in a variety of top-tier academic journals, and she has also helped developed practical projects like the Utah Resilience Map. She founded the Next Earth Project in an effort to bridge the gap between academic understandings of climate change mitigation and practical action. 

When she is not working, Emily enjoys skiing and mountain biking, exploring new places, and spending time with her family.

Ian Nicolosi

Lead Educator

Ian Robinson has a degree in Materials Science and Engineering from the University of Utah. As the Lead Educator, Ian is responsible for developing and delivering educational programs that empower individuals and communities to take action towards a more sustainable future. He has a talent for making complex topics accessible and engaging, and is committed to ensuring that everyone has the knowledge and tools needed to make a positive impact. Ian's expertise in sustainable design and education has been recognized by a variety of organizations, and he has been invited to speak at numerous conferences and events. 

In his free time, Ian enjoys exploring the great outdoors and spending time with his family. He is committed to living a sustainable lifestyle and is always tinkering around with new ideas and experiements in green living. 

Steve Wong

Program Support Volunteer

Steve Wong is a dedicated volunteer at The Center for Ecological Design, where he uses his skills in building and welding to support the organization's mission of promoting sustainable design practices. With a background in construction and metalwork, Steve brings a wealth of expertise to his volunteer work. Steve's role at The Center for Ecological Design involves assisting with a wide range of building and welding projects, from constructing sustainable buildings to designing custom metalwork. He is passionate about using his skills to make a positive impact on the environment and is committed to advancing sustainable design practices. A native of California, steve always shows up for his people, with a smile and a red bull. 

Lily North

Advocacy Volunteer 

Lily North is an enthusiastic volunteer at The Center for Ecological Design, where she brings a unique set of skills to support the organization's mission of promoting sustainable design practices. With a background in legal advocacy, building, and art installation, Lily is a versatile and valuable member of the volunteer team. Lily's role at The Center for Ecological Design involves a range of activities, including legal research and advocacy, as well as building and installing large-scale art installations. She is passionate about using her skills to promote sustainability and advance the organization's mission.
